New ultra-faint dwarf galaxy discovered at the edge of Local Group

Astronomers led by D. J. Sand report discovery of a new ultra-faint dwarf galaxy (UFD) that seems to be part of our own neighborhood. The galaxy Tucana B is part of the Local Group of galaxies which is also home to the Milky Way.

Our neighborhood is dominated by two big spiral galaxies: Milky Way and Andromeda. Together with smaller galaxies in their vicinity they make up the Local Group of Galaxies.
