InSight probe detected the strongest marsquake to date

InSight probe sits on the surface of Mars and listens to any tremors that might come from the planet's interior. In May it detected the strongest one yet: a magnitude 5 marsquake. Previous record holders were two quakes from last year’s August.

InSight probe is a stationary lander designed to study the interior of Mars. Its mission began in 2018 with landing in Elysium Planitia region close to the equator. Although NASA extended the InSight mission last month, it’s nearing its end. The solar panels collect a lot of dust and generate less and less power.
