X-ray variability of star HD 189733 is different from variability in its optical spectrum

Star HD 189733 is flaring in half of its observations. Astronomers also found out that the variability is significantly different in different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Yellow star



The star has about 83 % of solar mass. In its system there is also another smaller star and a jupiter-sized exoplanet. The presence of the exoplanet might be the cause of difference in variability.
