Evidence points to destruction of Jordan town Tall el-Hammam by an asteroid 3600 years ago, could it be the destruction of biblical town of Sodom?

Scientists led by Ted Bunch found melted ceramics and bricks in layer of debris in archaeological site Tall el-Hammam in Jordan. According to their new study it points to destruction of this bronz age town by an asteroid. Tall el-Hammam is one of the candidate places, that are described in the Bible as Sodom, which was destroyed by God for the sinful ways of its inhabitants.

The Bible describes fire falling from the sky during the destruction. The new study suggests, that the falling fire might have been caused by an explosion of asteroid in atmosphere over the city. Similar event was recorded over Siberia in 1908.
