Orbit of hypothetical ninth planet calculated, it could be 8 times heavier than Earth

There could be a ninth planet in our solar system. This theoretical massive object could be responsible for odd clustering of some Kuiper belt objects. From their motion scientist calculated, that the unknown planet could have mass between 5-8 Earth masses.

Planet 9, potential orbit

Summary

  • Orbits of some Kuiper belt objects might be gravitationally influenced by a massive object
  • New calculations show, that there could be a planet as much as 8 times more massive than Earth
  • Hypothetical Planet 9 would orbit the Sun much further than Neptune does.
